BRIEF
Create a cover and inside three double-page spread for an alternative holiday destination magazine. The article is covering the unusual destination of the city of Oak Ridge, US.
WHAT I DID
Oak Ridge was established in 1942 to serve as a production site for the Manhattan Project—the large American, British, and Canadian operation that developed the atomic bomb.
The concept I developed expresses the mystery and secrecy of the place, the trapped truth, and the apprehensive atmosphere of the city.
In order to visually translate this, I used a condensed typeface for intros and tight gaps between text and images. As for the image treatment, I cut and overlaid sections of the image, hiding and doubling parts in order to give a sense of confusion and missing links.
I designed everything from layout and typesetting to colour choice. The image from the cover is photographed by me and the imagery for the spreads are also edited and manipulated by me and sourced from stock photography.
